Under the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and The Provision & Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER) every employer has the responsibility to ensure a safe place of work for their employees.
This includes ensuring that racking and storage systems are in a safe condition at all times.
Racking systems are load bearing structures and may not perform to the manufacturer specifications in the event of:
Damage caused by fork lift trucks
Damage caused by overloading
Change in load capacity following alteration to the quantity and height of beam levels
Incorrect design or installation
We recognise that installing a safe racking system only meets part of the needs of our customers. For this reason, we have developed our Rack Inspection Service which ensures your warehouse remains a safe place of work in accordance with all HSE Regulations.
Locators have developed our own Rack Inspection App which allows our racking inspector to produce a report more quickly for both the customer and repair team which is both accurate and easy to read. Any critical damage that constitutes a 'red risk' requiring immediate offload of goods is notified automatically to the customer by email before the inspector leaves site.
Our comprehensive rack inspection service includes:Rack inspection app small
Formal inspection at agreed intervals
Comprehensive reporting and maintenance programme
Advice and recommendation on minimising damage
Providing load capacity signage to help reduce the risk of overloading
Technical advice and calculation of load capacities for any existing racking
system or when alterations have been made.
Training of your personnel to enable competent rack inspections to be
undertaken in house
Remember, as well as inspecting your racking system, Locators can arrange for any damage or repairs to be carried out for you.
